Adult Softball Leagues (for link to flier, click on program title)
Avondale adult softball offers Men’s and Co Rec Slow Pitch at Festival Fields. The emphasis is on healthy competition in a recreational environment. The leagues are organized, conducted and administered under ASA guidelines. Each season consists of 8 weeks of double headers and a single elimination tournament.

Game times:  6:30, 7:30, 8:30, 9:30 pm

Cost:  $350.00 per team residents (75%)
          $420.00 per team no residents

Returning teams registration - January 5 and 6

West Valley Senior Games   (for link to flier, click on program title)

Luke West Valley Recreation will be hosting the inaugural West Valley Senior Games. All athletes ages 50+ can participate in the Olympic style competition.  The games will be on Wednesday, November 5 at Friendship Park in Avondale.  There is a $5.00 fee per event per participant. Events include:

Basketball 3 on 3 - Men's Division Competitive
Bocce Men, Women. Co Rec teams  Competitive
Horseshoes - Men, Women Singles - Competitive
                    Co Rec - Competitive
Pickleball - Men, Women's, and Mixed Doubles - Competitive
5K Run - Competitive
Push/Press (Weightlifting) - Men and Women - Competitive only

Bridge, Dominoes, and Corn Hole Tournaments

Demonstrations - No Fees
Tai Chi, Archery

5K Fun Walk - No Fees

Youth Sports 


T-Ball and Coach Pitch

Youth learn the fundamentals of baseball in a safe, fun and non competitive environment.  Every child plays and bats.  Score is not kept and all games end in a tie!  Each child receives a team shirt, hat and award.  10 weeks total including 2 weeks of practice before games start.  Practice starts the week of March 2nd.  T-Ball ages 4-6; Coach Pitch ages 6-8 (6 if they played T-Ball one season)  Ages as of March 2nd 2009.  Volunteer coaches are needed.

Cost:  $30.00 per resident early registration by February 5
          $36.00 non per resident early registration by February 5

Start Smart - Golf

Start Smart is a six week golf instructional program that helps parents work one-on-one with their children introducing them to fun and fundamentals of golf.  Space is limited to the first 20 participants. Ages are 5-7 as of March 19, 2009.  Parental involvement is mandatory!

Saturday - 10:00 - 11:00 am  Friendship Park  Begins March 28

Registration begins January 5th

Cost:  $40.00 per resident early registration by March 12
          $48.00 non per resident early registration by March 12
          $50.00 per resident March 16-19
          $58.00 per non resident March 16-19

Start Smart Football

JR. Olympic Skills Competition

Jr. Olympics is a free grassroots youth participation program which allows boys and girls, competing separately, the opportunity to showcase their athletic abilities in three (3) events- basketball, tennis and soccer.  The program is designed to encourage youth participation in sports while promoting sportsmanship.  Youngsters ages 8-13 have the opportunity to participate. Champions from the local qualifying event will advance to one of the Regional Competitions across the country in hopes of advancing to the National Finals.  Registration forms will be available starting January 5 at Avondale City Hall.
