The Engineering Department consists of four divisions, Capital Improvement Projects (CIP), Construction Management, Traffic Engineering and Administration.
The CIP Division plans, develops and implements the City’s Capital Improvement Program for streets, water mains, sidewalks, storm drains, drainage and traffic signals.
The Construction Management Division monitors and inspects construction projects ensuring compliance with project specifications, plans and applicable federal, state and local regulations. In addition, the CM Division performs preventative maintenance on streets and roadways within Avondale City limits.
The Traffic Engineering Division provides transportation planning, traffic operations and maintenance of traffic control devices including traffic signals, roadway signs, and pavement markings, repair and maintenance of streetlights, and manages the School Traffic Safety Program.
The Administration Division oversees daily operations and provides support to all Divisions.
In addition, the Department also manages the City’s Stormwater Management Program, the PM-10 Program and serves as the City's Floodplain Administrators.
