Avondale celebrates all sorts of special events throughout the year.  Below is a list of evens Hosted by the City of Avondale for 2016 / 2017 with details on how to get involved.  

In addition, Avondale’s 200 acres of parks and facilities hosts dozens of special events, tournaments and other celebrations, organized by external organizations throughout the year!

Avondale Music Showcase & Workshop

Enjoy musical performance by artists Laura Walsh & John Caufield and other local performers.  A Collaborated event hosted in part by Alice Cooper Solid Rock and Estrella Mountain Community College Performing Arts Center.  For those interested in getting into the music industry, this event will feature a one-hour workshop with the Alice Cooper Solid Rock performers prior to the concert.

Bring a chair, invite the neighbors, as Avondale sets up an outdoor movie in your neighborhood.  Neighborhood Movie Nights are established once a season, each at a different location.

Billy Moore Days

Celebrate the return of Billy Moore Days with a 3 day event to include GAIN/Resident Appreciation fair, a parade and a carnival.

Avondale Veteran’s Day Fun Run & Challenge

Help us honor our veterans and their families with a Fun Run Challenge and Warrior's Breakfast at Estrella Mountain Community College.  Offered in partnership with Estrella Mountain Community College Veteran's support services to benefit the new Veteran's Center.   The day will kick off with the Fun Run & Challenge at 8:00 am and then the Warrior's Breakfast & Ceremony will begin at 9:00 am.

Southwest Valley Writer’s Conference


A one-day conference for inspiring writers of every level, to connect with industry professionals and other writers who have gathered to share their knowledge and love of writing.  This year's Keynote speaker is Amy Silverman, Phoenix New Times Managing Editor, KJZZ/NPR Commentator, Blogger and Author of the book My Heart Can't Even Believe It.   Event hosted by the Friends of the Avondale Library.

An all-day street festival of honoring, appreciating and celebrating our veterans, hosted by the Historic Avondale Merchants Association (HAMA) and American Legion Post No. 61.  Arts and crafts, veteran services, live music, motorcycle show, food, beer, and more.

Goodyear Farms Historic Cemetery Dia de los Muertos Festival

Celebrate the tradition of honoring the deceased with alters to honor the dead, entertainment, candlelight posada, craft and food vendors.  Event is coordinated by Ballet Folklorico Esperanza.

Tale of Two Cities Parade & Festival – An International Celebration

Celebrating the diversity of cultures from around the world this event will incorporate parade floats, food, arts & crafts and live entertainment.  The parade will begin at 10:00 am down Thomas Road between Litchfield and Dysart.  It will culminate with a festival on campus at Estrella Mountain Community College.

Tres Rios Nature Festival

This unique event focuses on the rich diversity of wildlife, habitat, history and culture of the Gila River drainage.  It features kayaking, canoeing, fishing, bird watching, and hiking.  The Festival also incorporates live entertainment, arts & crafts, food and much more.  The event attracts more than 7,000 people to enjoy the great outdoors.
