Avondale's Youth Services Division prepares young people to meet the challenges of adulthood by providing structured programs, caring adult mentors, and safe environments that assist youth in achieving their full potential as caring and productive citizens. Be a part of the many programs and activities offered to help you reach your full potential!

Youth Services staff accomplish their goal of "success with today's youth" by working diligently to build and continue on-going partnerships with multiple organizations and agencies whose common goal is to provide opportunities for all youth to succeed.

Arizona Call-a-Teen (AGES 16-21)

Arizona Call-a-Teen can help you achieve your education and career goals! Now offering a GED Program in Avondale! Get the skills you need to impress your future employer. Arizona Call-A-Teen can also get you connected with employment!

Avondale Youth Advisory Commission (AYAC)
(Students Grades 9-12)


Youth have a voice in Avondale! Join the AYAC to help promote positive change in Avondale through action and involvement! Meets: Avondale City Hall the second and fourth Monday of every month at 6: p.m.


Avondale Young Families Program (AGES 13-21)

The Avondale Young Families program provides FREE pregnancy and parenting classes to both mothers and fathers! Get the skills and information you need to care for your baby. The program is a great way to receive support from other teen parents and tools you need to accomplish your goals.
      

Next STEP (AGES 16-21)
 
More than just another application or job, the Next STEP Program provides Avondale teens who qualify with work readiness training, a paid work experience, tuition assistance and a jump start on the competition.


PROJECT REAL - Youth Development Program (AGES 13-21)

Is your after-school or summer playlist empty? Sync with Project REAL. The City of Avondale has collaborated with La Joya Community High School and the Boys & Girls Club to create a place just for teens! Come check out Avondale's hottest place for teens:

Teen Lounge. Music. Clubs.                           
Basketball and more.



S.T.E.P. UP (AGES 16+)
                     
Step up and be a Student/Teen Election Poll Worker! A great chance for teens to support the democratic process and receive $115 as stipend for working.


SPARK GROUP (SUPPORTING PARENTS OF AT-RISK KIDS)

Avondale's Neighborhood and Family Services Department hosts a weekly parenting support group. This free program is open to parents in need of a friendly place to discuss the frustrations of parenting, to learn new skills towards effective parenting, and to develop supportive relationships with other parents. Workshops are provided through a partnership wit the Maricopa County Juvenile Probation Department. Meets: Avondale Community Center every Wednesday from 6 - 8 p.m.


2009 VOICE OF YOUTH TEEN SUMMIT (AGES 13-17)

The Avondale Youth Advisory Commission and the Boys & Girls Club have teamed up to provide teens with an opportunity to voice what's on their mind! This free event will include workshops, food, prizes and a DJ spinning the latest tracks! Date and location TBD.        
                                                                               

Global Youth Service Day

Youth do make a difference in Avondale! Global Youth Service Day, conducted in partnership with local schools and youth-service organizations, promotes service to others while demonstrating the valuable contributions that our youth can make in their community!
