Adult Softball Leagues
Avondale adult softball offers Men’s and Co Rec Slow Pitch at Festival Fields. The emphasis is on healthy competition in a recreational environment. The leagues are organized, conducted and administered under USSSA guidelines. Each season consists of 8 weeks of double headers and a single elimination tournament.

Attention: Adult softball Players in the Avondale Area
Avondale Adult Drop-In Social Softball is being offered in 2010 by the Avondale Recreation Department, 6 – 9pm every Saturday night from January 9 – March 27 at Friendship Park softball field. Drop on over with a friend or by yourself or with a group of friends. It’s free and open to men and women ages 18 and older.
2nd Avondale tournament for all league and community teams.
Men’s and Co-Rec divisions. Awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, based on 12 teams for each division. Double elimination and USSSA rules.
Home Run Derby contest - Men's & Women's division Winners receive a Brett Helmer Easton Synergy + Bat
Entry fee: $10.00
Registration begins March 1st and deadline is March 31
Cost per team is $225.00.
All games played at Festival Fields, 101 E. Lower Buckeye.
The Luke West Valley Recreation Committee is hosting its 4th annual Recreation Family Fun Expo. There will be all kinds of activities for everyone in the family. Pet Expo, Wiener and Chihuahua Dog Races, Stupid Pet Tricks, Skateboard Competition, live band concert, Youth Art Show Contest, bouncers, and much more.
For youth and adults, there will be 2 basketball competitions.
3 Point Shootout -
Show your skills from downtown! Sign up for the 3 point shootout. All ages welcomed.
Groups: Youth - Ages 16 and under
Adult - Ages 16 and up
Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each age group

2 Ball Competition -
2Ball is an exciting, fast paced, basketball shooting competition. Teams of 2 players will have 60 seconds to shoot from 6 marked spots and score as many points as possible. All ages are welcomed!
Groups: Youth - Ages 16 and under
Adult - Ages 16 and up
Prizes will be awarded for the winning team.
Check in time is 11:00 am. Competition begins promptly at 11:30 am.
Youth learn the fundamentals of baseball in a safe, fun, and non competitive environment. Every child plays and bats. Score is not kept and all games end in a tie!! Each child receives a team shirt, MLB hat and award. Volunteer coaches are needed. 8 weeks total including 2 weeks of practice before games start. Practice starts week of August 16. T-ball ages 4-6; Coach Pitch ages 6-8, (6 if they played t-ball one season). Ages as of August 16, 2010

Start Smart Football and Golf
Start Smart is a six week instructional program that helps parents work one-on-one with their children introducing the fun of and fundamentals of football and golf. Parental involvement is mandatory! Space is limited to the first 20 participants. League is played at Friendship Park.
