Open Call to Artists for Proposals - Roadside Attraction

Art Committee.JPG
The Avondale Municipal Art Committee is seeking to purchase a “Roadside Attraction” sculpture for permanent display along 107th Avenue and Crystal Gardens Parkway by the Public Safety Facility, Fire Station 172. Professional artists are invited to submit examples of their work for consideration.

An Artist will be selected to display a public art sculpture (Roadside Attraction) to be viewed from 107th Avenue for the purpose of showcasing and promoting public art. The public art piece will be located at the median area of 107th Avenue and Crystal Gardens Parkway as motorists pass-by during their commute. The committee requests the theme blend in with the surrounding environment.

Crystal Gardens Wetlands Development

The City of Avondale Wetland project consists of a series of treatment cells designed to treat the City’s Salt River Project (SRP) and Central Arizona Project (CAP) water allocations to aquifer water quality standards.  The area is surrounded by the Crystal Gardens residential development but is open to the public.  The development was designed to be an amenity to the community as well as a source of drinking water.

The Avondale Municipal Art Committee is looking for a public art piece to enhance the north area of the city and to highlight Avondale’s commitment to public art, building upon the public art collection already on display throughout Avondale. Please review the City of Avondale Public Art Masterplan at (located on left).

This project is open to all professional artists.

The members of Avondale Municipal Art Committee are residents of the community, many of whom are artists and art professionals. The Committee will select art pieces for approval by the Avondale City Council.
