Community Engagement
Each year, the City of Avondale recruits AmeriCorps members to serve and build capacity across the community. The program offers AmeriCorps members the opportunity to improve lives while gaining valuable job skills and earning money for college. the city partners with the Corporation for National and Community Service to conduct several AmeriCorps programs and projects each year and place dedicated individuals in our community to address local needs.

Tool Box - Neighborhood Tool Loan Program
The Avondale Tool Box Program fosters neighborhood pride and provides support to community groups wishing to conduct community clean-up projects or days of service. The Tool Box is outfitted with landscape tools, general home maintenance tools and water coolers. Offered as a free program, the Avondale Tool Box is available for:

  • Multi-household clean-up projects
  • Neighborhood clean-up projects
  • Community group service projects

Make a Difference Day
Make a Difference Day is the largest national day of community service. Millions of volunteers around the country unite in a common mission to improve the lives of others. Each fall the City of Avondale partners with non-profits, churches and other community groups to conduct projects and make a difference in our community.
