Lorenzo Sierra was elected in 2014 to serve on the Avondale City Council in the capacity of Council Member. His 4-year term began in January of 2015.

Councilmember Sierra has a long history of local and statewide community service and advocacy. Currently, he serves as a member of the Maricopa Association of Government's Economic Development Committee, a board member for the Chicanos Por La Causa - Health and Human Services Committee; Xico, an arts organization; and the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce where he also serves as Vice Chair. In addition, he is a Commissioner on the Governor's Commission on Service and Volunteerism and a member of the Phoenix Business and Workforce Development Commission where he serves as the Business Engagement Chair. He is a member of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO).

Lorenzo holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Arizona State University and is owner of LoSierra, a marketing communications and community relations consulting firm. He is also a proud graduate of the Avondale Citizens Leadership Academy Class V; Valle del Sol's Hispanic Leadership Institute Class XX; Hispanic Leadership West Class X; the Center for Progressive Leadership Class V; and is an accredited Business Communicator through the International Association of Business Communicators.

Councilmember Sierra is a proud Arizona native and an Avondale resident since 2010. He and his wife, Rhonda Cagle, co-author a column for La Voz, entitled "The New American Family" and are the parents of three children.
