Avondale City Center Sculpture Pads Public Art Selection

Open Call To Artists For Proposals

The Avondale Municipal Art Committee is seeking to purchase sculptures for permanent display at its art pads located at the Avondale City Center. Professional artists/sculptors are invited to submit examples of their work for consideration.

Avondale City Center Sculpture Pads Public Art Selection

Artists will be selected to display public art sculptures on two pads the City has made available to the Avondale Municipal Art Committee for the purpose of showcasing and promoting public art. The pads (5 foot by 5 foot each) are located at the two front entrance areas of Avondale City Center south of the I-10 Freeway and east of Avondale Boulevard.

The vision for the City Center is unlike anything else in Avondale -- a walk-able, high-density urban center with retail, office, hotels and entertainment venues when completed. The city adopted the City Center Plan. The first phase of this plan included an 83,000 square foot sports complex, operated by American Sports Centers. The sports complex hosts indoor volleyball, soccer and basketball league tournaments, attracting tens of thousands of visitors each month. The City Center covers about 400 acres stretching along Avondale Boulevard, from interstate 10 south about one mile to the Avondale Civic Center.

The Avondale Municipal Art Committee is looking for public art pieces to enhance the City Center and to highlight Avondale’s commitment to public art, building upon the public art collection already on display throughout Avondale. Please review the City of Avondale Public Art Masterplan at http://www.avondale.org/publicart (located on left).
