INTERLIBRARY LOAN REQUEST
Are you looking for a book or audio that the Avondale Public Library System does not own? Put in a request here and we will try to borrow it from another library.
What is required to place a request?
You must have a valid Avondale Public Library card with no overdue books. Patrons must be at least 16 years old to place an Interlibrary loan request. Patrons younger than 16 must have a parent or guardian place the request for them; the parent or guardian is then responsible for picking up and returning the item, and any subsequent fees attached to that item.
How many items may I request?
You may have 5 active Interlibrary Loan requests at one time. Active means from the time of placing the order until the item is returned to the library. Patrons owing excessive fines and/or having any overdue books will not be allowed to check out their interlibrary loans materials until fines are paid and/or books are returned.
What do I pay?
Our Interlibrary Loan service is free, unless the item can only be found at a library which charges a fee. If this is the case, you will be notified before the item is ordered. If you do not pick up an ordered item by the specified date after being notified that the item has arrived, you will be assessed a $5.00 fee.
How long will it take?
On average, orders arrive in about 10-14 days. However, it may be much sooner or later, depending on availability.
How long may I keep the item?
Most items are checked out for 14 days, unless the lending library has specifically set a shorter or longer time period.
May I renew the items?
Many items are renewable; however, this is at the discretion of the lending library.
What about overdue fines or damaged/lost items?
You will be charged $2.00 per day for each overdue item. A lending library will charge the cost of the item plus any processing fees for a lost or damaged item.
** I am aware that there will be a $5.00 fee assessed on each interlibary loan item not picked up.
