Neighborhood Patrols
The Avondale Police Department operates under the concepts of Community Oriented Policing and customer service-based policing. These concepts attempt to assure the highest quality services are provided to the community.

Patrol Officers
Patrol officers work with citizens and the business community to improve and enhance the quality of life and protection for all of our citizens. Officers work four ten-hour shifts on one of seven squads, responding to calls for service, taking reports, conducting interviews, and contacting people in one of five Beats within the City of Avondale.

Bike Patrol
The bike unit is staffed by two bike certified Police Officers and one bike certified Police Sergeant. The bike unit patrols the entire city, rotating through all five beats of the city on a weekly basis. The bike unit also assists other divisions of Bike Patrol Officersthe Police Department by providing assistance with special details and community events. The Bike unit is dedicated is to the mission of the police department by providing professional services to the citizens of Avondale.

The Avondale Police Department Bike Unit is committed to developing relationships between the police department and the community its serves; by implementing proactive approaches to deter crime through education and high visibility patrols.

  • Focus on street-level crimes including narcotics violations, liquor and curfew enforcement, with saturation of high crime areas identified as having a recurring criminal problems. 
  • Educate citizens in crime prevention and participation with police in identifying and solving criminal activity, including active participation in beat meetings and citizens academies. 
  • Community involvement in reporting suspicious activity, taking proactive measures to safeguard property, and working with juveniles to educate them on drug and gang awareness.

Park Ranger TruckPark Rangers
The Park Rangers are assigned to patrolling parks, paths and lakes within the City of Avondale. The Park Rangers patrol their areas of responsibility by utilizing various types of equipment to include pickup trucks, bicycles, and all terrain vehicles. The Park Rangers enforce park rules/regulations and city codes by educating park users and citizens.
